About the Education Department

There is a great need for Christian school teachers with exceptional teaching ability, a heart for ministry, a professional work ethic, and a biblical philosophy.

As you complete your bachelor’s degree in education at Pensacola Christian College, you’ll prepare for the important ministry of teaching K–12 grade levels from a biblical perspective. You’ll study traditional methods and proven teacher-directed learning theories in education that have produced excellent results for many generations . . . and you’ll discover how to make your classroom an exciting, delightful learning environment.

You’ll get phenomenal real-world learning experience observing and teaching at Pensacola Christian Academy, one of the country’s largest, most respected Christian schools. During your senior internship, a master teacher will guide you as you take full responsibility with a PCA class. You’ll graduate ready to start your career as a confident, capable, inspiring educator.

Although the education programs do not lead to state licensure, graduates are qualified to receive teacher certification through the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

One-Room Schoolhouse

The One-Room Schoolhouse:

An Inspiring Legacy to Carry On

On the fourth floor of the Rebekah Horton Library stands a fascinating monument to traditional Christian education: a one-room schoolhouse complete with replicas of old-fashioned student desks, a pot-bellied stove, a portable organ Mrs. Beka Horton used to play herself, and even a school bell guests can ring in the schoolyard. The schoolhouse provides an authentic look into American education during the early 1900s.

Historical maps, flags, and genuine textbooks from as far back as the 1800s serve as reminders of the rich heritage PCC’s education students seek to honor. Whether examining the artifacts or doing research with the classic books, students are inspired to follow the example set by the high-quality educators who faithfully taught generations of children.
